S-DC Celebrated Its Sixth Annual Scholarship

Sojourner-Douglass College celebrated its Sixth Annual Scholarship banquet on October 4, 2012. Proceeds of the event benefit the Dr. Charles W. Simmons Scholarship Fund, named in honor of our President & Founder Dr. Charles W. Simmons, among the longest standing presidents of any one college in the nation! That evening, four outstanding undergraduate students with GPA’s 3.5 and above accepted $1,500 scholarships toward their college expenses from the fund, and one graduate student received $500.00 toward their PDM Guidance (a capstone internship for graduate school students).

Also highlighted during the evening’s events was the celebration of S-DC’s 40th Anniversary – 40 years of extraordinary achievements and accomplishments of the institution, administration, faculty, staff, students and Alumni. Five Distinguished Alumni from each of the four decades of the College’s existence were recognized.

The evening included a reception, dinner and program.
