Why Give To Sojourner-Douglass College

Even though we are relatively young, there are some traditions that are too important to fade away. One of Sojourner-Douglass College's most important traditions is that of giving. Indeed, Sojourner-Douglass' roots lie in the act of generosity of community leaders, the City of Baltimore, the Council of Churches, educators, and community supporters who, beginning in 1972, donated money, time, books and facilities in the founding and early development of the College. Sojourner-Douglass College began with all volunteer faculty and staff. That tradition of giving, which continues to this day, has made a profound and lasting contribution to Sojourner-Douglass' standing as a significant community resource and one of the most unique institutions in the world.

Today, Sojourner-Douglass must continue to rely on the generosity of alumni, faculty, staff and friends, not only to maintain its standards of excellence, but to exceed them. Just as our founding as a community-controlled College create and emphasize a common bond, Sojourner-Douglass' tradition of giving creates a self-determined community of which you can be proud. Because tuition alone does not cover the full range of educational experiences at Sojourner-Douglass, your gift is essential to support the College's growth to provide the resources the College needs to enhance its programs, facilities, financial aid, and continue to attract the highest quality faculty.
