Bookstore

The Sojourner Douglass College's Bookstore buys selected texts from students. These are the particular restrictions that apply:

1. The books are only purchased on dates listed by the Bookstore (the end of each semester).

2. The books must be on the buy back list.

3. The books must be in an acceptable condition.

4. The books condition determines its value, which ranges from 10% to 40% of its retail price.

Once the book(s) value is assessed this amount is credited to the student's account as a credit balance. The Bookstore does not pay cash for books.

THE BOOKSTORE PROVIDES THE STUDENTS WITH THE NEEDED TEXTS AND MATERIALS. IN ORDER TO BETTER SERVE THE STUDENT, THE GUIDELINES LISTED HERE HAVE BEEN INSTITUTED .

1. ONLY THREE (3) STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BOOKSTORE AT ONE TIME.

2. STUDENTS MUST FIRST ATTEND THE OFFICIALLY REGISTERED CLASS BEFORE BUYING TEXTS.

3.STUDENTS MUST PRESENT EVIDENCE OF REGISTRATION (I.E. OFFICIAL COURSE SCHEDULE REGISTRATION).

4. STUDENTS MUST PRESENT EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL AID (I.E. TEXT CLEARANCE).

5. ALL TEXT EXCHANGES FOR REFUND WILL BE CREDITED TO THE STUDENT'S ACCOUNT.

6. ALL TEXT EXCHANGES MUST BE MADE WITHIN SEVEN (7) BUSINESS DAYS OF PURCHASE, FOR FULL TEXT PRICE.

The Fannie Lou Hamer Tuition Assistance Program Student is provided with the needed materials required for each registered course. These materials are loaned to the FLH student by the Bookstore at the beginning of each semester, and as the book/loan agreement stipulates "books must be returned within two weeks (14 days) after the close of the semester."

Text borrow/return policy:

1. Students must PROVIDE proof that they are FLH students;

2. Students are entitled to borrow only those materials needed for officially registered courses;

3. Students must have returned all previously borrowed materials;

4. Students must return all borrowed materials in acceptable condition;

5. Students will be charged fair market value for all lost, defaced, and unreturned materials;

6. Students will lose the right to participate in the FLH Program if they are found to be in violation of any of these guidelines;

7. Students may elect to purchase the required materials, if so, the text will be offered at a 50% discount.

Note: Questions concerning these guidelines should be directed to the Bookstore or the Financial Aid Office.
