Student Classification

New Student

• A student who is registering for the first time at Sojourner-Douglass College. (New students are enrolled in the First Year Experience for Emerging Scholars Program.)

Returning Student

• A student who has not taken a break since first registering at Sojourner-Douglass College.

Readmitted Student

• A student who previously attended Sojourner-Douglass College, but not within the last two semesters.

Transfer Student

• A student who have earned a high school diploma or an equivalent credential, and have attended a college or university either part-time or full-time during a regular semester.

Transient Student

• A student from another institution wishing to pursue courses at S-DC, with the earned credit being transferred to the student’s original institution.

Special Student

• A student who is studying and earning credit through projects which are sponsored by outside agencies or organizations and/or who are not working toward a specific degree.
